Testimonials

Each of these four MP3 Files has men answering the question: “What was the main thing you received when you attended the MROP Weekend?”

None of the answers are the same. Each man who attends a MROP will receive something according to where he is on the journey and what he needs to continue. There is a purpose and plan for all of us and God initiates each man according to how He designed that man and what plans He has for his life. There are no mistakes everything belongs and has occurred to get you to where you are now reading this page and considering an MROP. Listen to what other men have discovery in the adventure.

Randal M. Arizona 2005

I attended a Men's Rite of Passage retreat sponsored by the Arizona chapter of Men as Learners and Elders (MALE) in 2005. Some seventy men gathered at a remote camp beside a national forest near Tucson. We were Catholic and Protestant. We came from many places across the country as well as some from Australia, Austria, and England. There was also a good bit of diversity in terms of age, although I would guess over half of us were 40 or older and many who were 50 or older. It was clear from personal conversations that we were also a diverse group on the liberal conservative continuum, politically as well as theologically. The structure of the retreat kept us focused on what we have in common as men and on what matters in life, rather than on our differences. The wilderness setting profoundly enhanced the experience for me.

It was for me a profound experience of healing, renewal, and recommitment.

Descriptions of the MROP have included: "an invitation to listen to the quiet voice of God," "an opportunity to examine life's priorities and ask courageous questions about your "next step" and "a chance to return to life with a renewed commitment to your gifts." A recent MROP brochure states: "The MROP is not just another event to attend, nor is it something to "fix" some condition in your life. It is a decision that should come out of prayer; you should know in your "gut" that God is inviting you into it." Anyone considering attending an MROP is encouraged to talk to others who have previously attended one.
